I think sometimes in life we work too hard.
Not with work
Not mowing the yard
Not when we house clean
but when we try to get people to like us
The fact is some people are just going to think of you a certain way and will never change their view of you or of the past regardless of how wrong they are about both.
This is a hard reality to live with.
Yes, there are some relationships that can’t be fixed for they will always be tainted by the other person’s false perception.
This is why I am thankful for Jesus…
He knows me, He knows my heart, my mis-comings and misgivings, my successes and victories…
He knows the truth other people refuse to understand
and He chooses to love me just the same.
The question is…
Is His love enough for me?
It should be
The times we demonstrate it is not enough, is when we try to gain the approval of others. (Now there are times we must work to reconnect with someone and straighten things out with them . That’s not what I am talking about here.)
When we go out of our way to connect with those who do not desire to connect back or when we go overboard to prove to them we are not what they think we are…. we are saying to Jesus…
He isn’t enough.
However, Jesus is enough in our lives when we are focused on pleasing our Savior and other people’s thoughts and opinions of us past, present, or future are left in His capable hands.
In fact when Jesus is enough… what others think doesn’t matter as much.
Doesn’t matter as much = no longer causes us pain
So… Is Jesus enough?
Or do you still “need” those other people to like you as well?
I’ve had to do a heart check today and got back to Jesus being enough and it is already making a difference in my life and attitude.

A friend of mine and I had this discussion not to long ago. We struggle with people accepting us for who we are and not turning their backs on us. It hurts when people reject us, but then we realized that we need to find our identiy and approval in Christ. It really doesn’t matter what others think. It’s nice to have people like us and accept us, but ultimately it is Christ we should seek approval from.
Man is fallible, Chirst is infallible. I seek my worth, assurance, and approval from the infallable. Those around us are fickle, but Christ is never fickle and He doesn’t let others influence His opinion of us. He knows us up, down, left, and right. That’s good enough for me.
