(Proverbs 30)
Are you satisfied with where God has you, in your life right now? Are you thankful for what God has given you and are satisfied with the things you have?
Now it is ok to have goals, and the drive not to remain where you are in life. You can be satisfied with where you are in life and still pursue a goal that when accomplished will imporve your life.
No problem there.
The problem lies with wanting more without being thankful for what we currently have. When we say, I want more, give me more, give me more! I am not sastified!
Proverbs says…. “The leech has two daughters, Give and Give. There are three things that will not be satisfied, four that will not say enough. The grave, the barren womb, land that is never satisfied with water and a fire that says enough.” Proverbs 30:15-16
The grave never says…hey I have enough dead people, for it is always looking for one more. Always looking for another life to take.
The barren womb wants to be filled with a child. It is not content to be barren.
Land that never gets enough water is more than willing to accept any amount of water even to the point of the destruction of everything that is on it.
Fire eats and eats and eats, and never says “I have burned enough stuff, I have destroyed enough items. I will not burn that next twig because I do not need it.” it always says, give me more, more, more.
To live a life that is never satisfied, a life of give me, give me, give me. Is to live a life of destruction, suckign life out of everything in its path.
I don’t want to live like that.
Lord help me to be content with what you have given me. In fact, I am thankful for all the blessings you have provided in my life. I know you have pointed me in a direction and I look forward to the accomplishment of that goal. But until then… I am thankful for all that you have provided. Convict me if I start living the life of a leech. In Jesus Name Amen.
