Day 6

(Proverbs 6)

I don’t know about you…

When I hit Proverbs 6:16…

I had to slow down…

Because the warning is “striking.”

“There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him.”

If the Lord has said… “I hate ___________” I definitely want to pay attention to whatever that item or list is.

If the Lord hates them…

if they are an abomination to Him…

I don’t know about you…

I want to to take notice…

and make sure those sins are not a part of my life.

Here is the list of the things the Lord hates from our reading today…

1. Haughty eyes, which is literally “High eyes” which describes a proud look and an arrogant heart. “I am better than”, “I have out grown that relationship”, “I am taking the high road”, “look at me”…

The Lord hates it when we are Haughty. Its an attitude that stinks.

I needed this one… didn’t do so well with it yesterday.

2. A lying tongue.

3. Hands that shed innocent blood.

4. A heart that devises wicked plans. You know like… “I’m going to get back at them” “I am going to show them” Its when we desire to crush the one that has hurt us and we make plans to crush them.

5. Feet that run rapidly to evil.

6. A false witness who utters lies – This is any time we misrepresent what actually happened in a given situation and we allow our words to be the fuel for someone else’s anger… all the while knowing that what we told them was just to get them upset.

Then,

we sit back and watch the bombs go off that we instigated.

We watch as relationships become strained and damaged.

Its no wonder God says he hates this…

I hate it too.

7. The one who spreads strife among brothers. (6:17-19) Closely related to #6. This person lies and waits for the right opportunity to take a jab at someone.They are masters at making the jab look innocent on their part. Then, they secretly enjoy the conflict their jab has created.

God says He hates…

Yes,

He Hates these things.

Hate is a strong word and just incase you missed the harshness of that word he adds..

these 7 things “are an abomination”

We need to pray and ask God to help us stay away from these sort of actions and for God to help us stay away from people who make anyone of these a habit of their life.

I don’t know about you but…

I do not want to participate in anything that God hates…

and thats what hit me from this passage…
