Day 21

This chapter was packed, to the point and challenging. It is the beginning and end of it that grabbed my attention…

21:1 – “The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes.”

21:31 – “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But victory belongs to the Lord.”

It may appear that kings, rulers, presidents, and China hold absolute sway, and have total control over the way things go, but that is not the case. Their thinking, motives, inclinations, and decisions are under the absolute control of God Himself. He is able to make even the evil intentions of a man’s heart promote His purposes. (See Ps. 76:10) Only God is in absolute control.

Now we can prepare our horses, and should make preparations. Proverbs teaches us to be diligent in our planning, working and our storing up for tomorrow. It warns against going through life without goals, plans, and preparation. (for destruction is on your door step if you live that way) But even when you are prepared for tomorrow (because you planed and worked today) do not forget it is God who is in control. It is God who gives the victory. It is God who makes your efforts successful.

What did you see from the passage today?
