Day 13

(Proverbs 13)

Day 13

Bad News….

yes todays passage has some bad news for anyone out there who hangs on the weekends with foolish people…

You will suffer harm. it’s only a matter of time. (13:20b)

It seems that who you hang around determines the shape of your future. It definitely effects your character.

I have heard it said… ” if you want to see what your future will look like just take a look at who you associate with now”

So the question is… who are you hanging around?

Who are you walking through life with?

Whoever it is will be what you will become in the future.

If that scares you, its time to make a change.

That said…

When I read through this today and hit proverbs 13:20 the song “Walk with the Wise” by Steven Curtis Chapman kept playing in my head.

Here are the lyrics…

I prayed a prayer for wisdom just like a farmer prays for rain
‘Cause I know that I must have it to survive in this life
And I stared out in the distance ’cause it seemed so far away
And I waited for the lightning
But the lightning and the thunder never came

Never came

So I took a look beside me to my left and to my right
And saw people full of wisdom all around in my life
And it started to come clearer I began to understand
That my prayer was being answered, it’s all part of God’s plan

If we walk with the wise we will grow wise ..wo ..wo
If we walk in the light then our path will be bright I know
There’s someone who’s already been where we must go
In the light of what they’ve learned we find
That we will grow wise if we walk with the wise

I’ve learned to look for answers in those born before my time
As I listen to them tell me what they’ve learned in their lives
I talk to friends with understanding much deeper than my own
And gain wisdom beyond measure I could never find alone

If we walk with the wise we will grow wise ..wo ..wo
If we walk in the light then our path will be bright I know
There’s someone who’s already been where we must go
In the light of what they’ve learned we find
That we will grow wise if we walk with the wise

So here is some good news…

for those of you who hang around people of wisdom on the weekends…

Your future is bright…

for only good things can come when we walk with the wise.

What did you get front he passage today?

  1. I see this sooo often being an ED nurse… Noone ever intends for things to turn out badly, but a lot of things that are 100% preventable land you at my work…. Things that could be avoided by walking with the wise. Very literal translation for me today.
