(Proverbs 3)
There is a fear that (if we are honest with ourselves) often rules our souls and brings us to make decisions based on our own understanding.
It is the fear that we may not be able to tap into the wisdom of God. The fruit of this fear is seen every time we list pros and cons, project as many possible outcomes as we can think of, when we obsess about details we can’t control as we attempt to protect ourselves from all the “what ifs” this world has to offer. We feel it in sleepless nights and when worry takes up most of our thinking time.
This is us leaning on our own understandings and convincing ourselves those understandings are God’s so we can “do” something to feel better about our circumstance, about our life…
so we don’t feel like we have lost control.
But what if we would let go of our wisdom and embrace God’s?
What would happen if we would forsake leaning on what we understand and lean on the promises of God instead?
What would happen if we surrendered and submitted entirely to Him?
Well…
Our paths would become straight… even when they appear to be random… they would still be straight… even though we may not fully understand what is happening… our paths would be straight, we would not stumble, be confused, or have to worry about where we are going…
because we have left that decision to Him…
and He knows where His children need to go.
Proverbs 3:5-8
What did you see in the passage today? What verse stood out to you?
I think several of these are so awesome! The one that seems to stand out to me the most right now is verse 27 “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. (Proverbs 3:27 ESV)”
I am in a big leadership role right now and I hear this verse loud and clear…. Very loudly and very clearly! So grateful for this study!!
“Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, ‘Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.’ ” Proverbs 3:27,28
