(Proverbs 15)
“The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the up right is acceptable to Him” (15:8)
There are somethings the Lord refuses to accept and the sacrifice of the wicked is one of those.
Whether it is because they do it out of ritual or just because they want something and are giving the sacrifice as leverage, the end result is the same. God refuses to be a part of that, it’s an abomination to him.
The truth is clear – don’t try to manipulate God or just try to go through the motions of dedication to Him. If you are going to do something with an insincere heart, just save yourself the trouble and don’t do it. It will be better if you don’t.
God does not find delight in the ritual. He finds delight in the one who is sincere. In the one who is doing the best he can to follow God and who is doing his best to live right.
God desires us to be sincere and when we live with that level of authenticity He listens to our request and demonstrates love toward us, even though we aren’t perfect.
Make it your goal today to be sincere in your pursuit of God for that will “bring a smile to His face.”
