The weekly – “what’s up in the world both large and small”
The Drop
President Obama decides he is ok with same sex marriages the day after North Carolina votes in an amendment to its constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman. This separates him from “main stream America” while North Carolina becomes main stream as they add their name to the list of 29 states and one commonwealth who have similar amendments in their constitutions. On another note, in November Minnesota will be voting on a marriage amendment and Maine will be voting on whether or not to repel theirs.
Coach K ( the coach of the Duke Blue Devils ) says this will be his last season coaching team USA for the Olympics. He will give up his position at the end of the 2012 Olympic Games.
A Federal Judge in Va this week said that you could keep the Ten Commandments posted on government property if you took out the four that referred to God. I guess now they will become the 6 commandments we like and 4 we don’t. This means he is 60% in agreement with…. Well… ” you know who”
Matt Redman’s album “10,000 Reasons” is on sale on iTunes this week for $6.99. Also Mercy Me is gearing up for a new release, while the Royal Band tops the Christian Charts this week with their partial album “The Royal Royal” . (Royal has a unique sound so take a quick listen before you buy). And last but not least Casting Crowns latest album “Come to the Well” is still on the top ten best sellers list on iTunes and has been on the top ten list since its release.
Rounding out the top ten Best selling Christian Book list on amazon are titles like,

The Drip
We received the proofs for our directional signage today for our church. There are a few changes we need to make but we are making progress.
This Wednesday evening will be our last Bible Study until the fall. In its place we will have Awana Awards (next week) and then begin preparations for Summer Spectacular (on Wednesday evenings.)
The Bridge-Out post parts 1 through 4 was written for several reasons, 1. I just wanted to write something in a style I had not used before, 2. after last Tuesday I really didn’t want to write the things I was thinking in my mind so it served as an escape for me and 3. (even though these are not all the reasons for it) it was sort of an idea I had for a book… Of course there is more to the book idea than what is in those post, but I have decided against the idea for now.
We will be forming a ministry team to aid Alethea and Greg with the youth ministry and are currently putting that team together. The team will serve for a year and will help us take the youth ministry to the next level.
This Summer we will take a break from our “Life” series in 1 John and begin one called “Who Me?” ( Title is subject to change)
We would like to see our Take 9 “Movies in the Park” idea take off. We will see what becomes of that idea after this Sunday.
And finally, I had an idea last week to start something June 1st where a group of us ( who ever signs up) make a commitment to read through the gospels in chronological order. Currently I’m calling it “A Summer with Jesus”. If you are interested in doing this please comment below.
Well that’s it for this weeks Drop….
Until next time?….
