Day 23 – Proverbs 23

Man…

what they are doing looks good and they look like they are having “so much fun”. Could that really be all that wrong?

Have you ever thought that?

I have.

How about this…

Look at where they are now in the company, and they got there by stepping on other people. They make more than me and have the ear of the owner of the company. Maybe I should have taken some of those types of steps and even though they would have been wrong…

at least I would have a better position in the company with more power.

Have you ever thought that? Have you ever envied someone else, and what they were getting away with to “get there.”

I’ve come close.

I have been in an office situation… working with someone who was anything but honest. That put me down every chance they got and just kept getting away with it over and over again.

Their goal?

Make me look bad so they would look better.

It was irritating but I didn’t envy them.

The lack of envy on my part was because of God’s grace,

and the fear of the Lord made me hold my tongue.

Now,

Looking back I can say there was a future for myself and my family

my hope wasn’t cut off… even though it felt like it was.

Maybe that’s why these verses stood out to me today…

“Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the fear of the Lord all the day. Surely there is a future and your hope will not be cut off.”

I can say without a shadow of a doubt these verses are true!

What did you see from the passage today?
