The Possum Chronicles

For the 23rd time…..

What is this Grissum?

I don’t know Newsum, it feels hard.

Yea, it’s a different texture than grass or dirt. (Jensum Female)

It isn’t water. (Dumsum)

Hum, hey what is that behind me? (Newsum – now chasing his tail, going in circles)

There is something behind me too! (Jensum now going in circles)

Dumsum now going in circles

(Grissum) Guys, guys, Guys! Stop! STOP! (they stop and look at him) It is just your tail!

Oh yea, forgot. (together)

Pause (Grissum)

Yea, it’s….

Listen I think their is a trash can over there behind that house. (Grissum)

Really! Alright! Lets go! (Dumsum, Jensum, and Newsum turn and run toward the house)

Grissum’s paw carefully touches the hard mysterious ground.  He can smell things, things he is curious about on the other side of this expanse.  Then….  he hears something, it is getting closer, it sounds loud and big. Lights appear,  coming fast.

Heart beating faster, and faster. Fear begins to set in and in a moment of pure horror he turns and runs, as fast as he can.

The sound is behind him now, he runs faster, heart, blood, panting.

He high tales it around the house to the trash can where the others are ripping into bags, searching for food.

Safe.

Grissum stops a moment and listens, the sound he heard is quickly getting  softer and softer.

Gone.

Crickets and rumblings in the trash can.

Hum? (Grissum)

Hey Grissum! Look at this trash can we found! (Newsum)

Grissum rolls his eyes and joins his family.

This is a great find guys! Let’s try to remember this place.

Ok, we’ll never forget this!
