Sometimes in life there are things that we see coming and we are concerned about them.
– Like a surgery
– The loss of a Job and how will we find another…
or in these days…
will we find another.
– A bill that is coming due and we are not sure how we will pay it
– When you know that very soon you are going to have to replace the roof on your house and you’re not sure if you will have the money to fix it
– A presentation you are about to give at work or school, where a sale or a grade is on the line
– A message you are about to preach or present to a group of people… and you are wondering how it will go
– You are about to lead a group of people to reach out into the community in a new way and you begin to think, will this work, will this be a flop, will we pull it off?
These are natural Anxiety moments, moments of nervousness, or uneasiness concerning what is about to occur…
and these feelings come even when you “know” what is about to happen is a positive thing.
But then…
in the moment where your anxeity is about to go postal…
someone comes up to you and says…
– Let me pray for you before you go into surgery tomorrow. You are going to make it.
– You are a good worker and I have no doubt that you will find a new job soon.
– God will suppy your need… the money will come so hang in there. Here’s a little bit to help you, I wish we could do more.
– You are a great speaker and a good motivator. So, just relax I know you will do well.
– I shared what you said on Sunday with a co-worker of mine that needed it… they wanted me to tell you, “thank you.”
Its at these moments Anxiety turns to gladness…
all because of the good words that are spoken to give you the comfort you need
I love it when that happens.
“Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad” Proverbs 12:25
Lord help me give “good words” to someone who is concerned about what is around the corner.
I want to see them comforted
I want to see them smile…
even if it is for a brief moment.
That’s what hit me from the passage today…
what did you see?
