Day 6 of the “14 Days of Thanks” – a countdown to Thanksgiving

thanksgiving leavesIt seems sometimes that some things in this life are winning.  Things we feel should not win, things we feel are unfair, unjust, sinful and sometimes just simply wrong.

Within the many dark clouds this life blows our way, it often seems that the things that should not have victory have it and the good things in this life don’t.  Sometimes it seems that the good things are being defeated with extreme prejudice and our current losses are eternal.

And we are temped to think…

All we have done is for nothing

Our work for God

Our dedication to Him, His work, and His house

all seem to have been for nought

But things are not always as they seem, for the victory that the things have is all smoke and mirrors.  For in reality those things have been defeated long ago with a man on a cross who walked out of an empty tomb.

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore my brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is NOT in vain.”  (1 Corinthians 15: 57,58 ESV)

So today I am thankful for the victory I sometimes do not see or feel but I know is there.

I’m thankful for Christ who is so perfect that victory will never be renounced

I am thankful that God provides us a spirit of strength that keeps us steadfast and immovable.

I am thankful that by God’s strength, I am able to serve God with my life in an away that abounds far more than my human ability to do or SEE.
