In The Middle of It

The other day I was at lunch with one of my close friends and I was talking about a situation that was really irritating me. Half way through the conversation I noticed he was just sitting across from me with a smile on his face.

So I asked him what he was thinking…

He said “oh, nothing just listening”

It is at this point I realized I was “in the middle of it” and so focused on this one issue that I had missed what surrounded it.

That’s what happens when we get focused on one issue and when that issue is all we can see. And when that is all we can see it blinds us and prevents us from having….

Clarity

Which would help us see things in a different light and determine if it is worth it to pursue the issue any further or it would help us see a better approach to handling it if that is needed.

So…

If you are focused today on just one issue and just can’t get it off your mind…

You’re in the middle of it and blinded by it…

And it’s time to step back and refocus…

On the bigger picture before you cause a lot of harm.

A few verses…

One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil,
but a fool is reckless and careless. (Proverbs 14:16 ESV)

The wise watch their steps and avoid evil; fools are headstrong and reckless. (Proverbs 14:16 MSG)

Scoffers set a city aflame, but the wise turn away wrath. (Proverbs 29:8 ESV)
