“Twas the Night Before Christmas”

Yep there he is…

my son

doing his thing in this years christmas play.

This play went very well, one of the best.  It told the story of Jesus…

a story that is often forgotten because of everything else “Christmas” has to offer these days.

It’s not that Santa or Rudolf  or Elves or Christmas Trees or gift giving is bad.  They are not bad, they are fun things to do and fun stories to tell.

Its when they take the place of Christ and we push Him back in the corner and focus more on the “pretend aspect” of Christmas instead of the real aspect.

I am proud of the crew that put this play together for our church and their focus on the Biblical Christmas story.  It was a reminder to the kids that Christ is the meaning of Christmas and that is something the church needs to always put in front of them… as long as we can.

My encouragement to you today is to seize each opportunity you have with your kids to remind them of what this season is really about.

What are you doing this Christmas to make sure they know the Real reason for the Season?

  1. Thank you for a good reminder at this busy time of year. Our children and grandchildren are not exchanging presents with each other this year, we are taking the money that would have been spent on gifts and letting the children choose a charitable ministry cause (we will provide the choices) and the gift will go from the Washburn Family to someone in need. We are all excited about this idea and hope it grows into a memorable family tradition.
