Day 20 – Proverbs 20

I like to win…

make no mistake…

losing is not an option for me.

But I have been on the losing side more times than I would like to admit.

It is easy to know how to win a game, or a competition. All you have to do is play the game better than your opponents and…

“Wa – La – the W goes by your name

Its a great feeling.

But winning a game is different than winning an argument. In fact, if you engage in an argument you are participating in a “no win” situation.

Yes… that is correct, no one ever wins an argument no matter how hard they try.

You can only lose.

This is why the writer of proverbs says “Its an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife” (keep away from arguments) “but every fool will be quarreling.” (20:3)

Keeping away from (or aloof) means you do everything you can do to avoid an argument and if you find yourself pulled into one you give up and walk away.

Yes, take a deep breath and walk away.

There are other ways to deal with disagreements that are more beneficial than arguing about the issues at hand.

This isn’t a strategy to win… but is the honorable thing to do.

So don’t be foolish, keep yourself from engaging in arguments

you will be glad you did.

Thats what convicted me from the passage today.

What did you see?
