The Easter Playlist

Yep—if you’ve been following this blog long enough, you know there’s an October Playlist, a Thanksgiving Playlist… and we don’t really talk about the Christmas one because—well—everyone has one of those, right?

But the Easter Playlist?
That one hasn’t really been talked about.

Not sure why.

Because I have one. I play it every year during Passion Week and the week after Easter… (and sometimes before). And honestly, there isn’t a more life-changing moment than the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

So—we’re correcting that.

Before we get to the playlist itself, I want to highlight a few of the albums that shape the Easter season for me—albums that are always in rotation this time of year.

The first is The Passion of the Christ soundtrack, composed by John Debney, from The Passion of the Christ directed by Mel Gibson.

I bought it when the movie first came out, and it was honestly the first time I’d heard music that truly set the atmospherefor Easter. It’s dark. It’s intense. It carries a weight that feels ancient—almost haunting at times—but it’s also deeply moving. It pulls you into the gravity of what happened.

The next album comes from one of my favorite artists, Andrew Peterson.

A few years ago, he released The Resurrection Letters, and it’s just… different. Maybe not what you’re used to, stylistically—but if you listen to Christian music at all, you’ve probably heard Is He Worthy? And in my opinion, no one does that song better than he does. The video alone is worth your time.

Right before that album, he also released a smaller project, Resurrection Letters: Prologue EP, which is one of my personal favorites. If you haven’t listened to either of those, you should definitely check them out.

Now, the buzz this year is around Tomee Profitt’s album The Resurrection of a King.

It is epic.

He takes old hymns—songs you probably grew up singing out of a hymn book—and completely reimagines them into something cinematic and powerful. The whole album has this ability to give you chills. It’s that good.

Honestly, if you don’t listen to anything else I’ve mentioned, listen to this one.
And don’t just play a track—play the whole album. Good speakers. Turn it up.
No—really… turn it up.

So those are the albums.

The rest of the playlist is a collection of songs I’ve gathered over the years—all centered around the resurrection. Songs that just belong in this season.

The playlist is available on Apple Music. If someone wants to create a Spotify version, that would be amazing—drop the link in the comments. I’ll approve it in a heartbeat.

That said—here’s the link.

And remember…

HE’S ALIVE.
