5 Reasons I’m Not In a Hurry for Spring

A few days ago I heard someone say, “I can’t wait for winter to be over.”

Then another person chimed in, “I am so ready for spring.”

And before long it turned into one of those conversations where everyone starts dreaming about sunshine, flowers, and sitting outside again.

Meanwhile, I’m standing there thinking,
“Am I the only person who’s perfectly fine with winter sticking around a little longer?”

Don’t get me wrong — I like spring. But winter still has a lot going for it. In fact, here are five reasons I’m glad spring doesn’t rush in too quickly.

1. Allergy Season

For me, allergy season begins the exact moment spring arrives. I enjoy the warmer weather… but my sinuses immediately begin preparing for battle.

The pollen shows up and suddenly I’m sneezing like I just stuck my head inside a bag of flour.

2. Winter Clothes Are Better

I have much better looking clothes for winter. Sweaters, jackets, hoodies — it’s a solid lineup.

Spring and summer show up and suddenly I’m expected to wear shorts.

And let’s just say… the world is not ready for my legs.

3. The Slow Pace of January and February

January and February move at a slower pace. You can’t really do much yard work, so you find yourself sitting on the couch watching TV.

This is also the time of year when you completely forget about that diet you confidently announced on January 1st.

Somewhere around January 14th you’re eating chips thinking,
“Technically… February is still early in the year.”

4. Snow

I love snow. I also love snowboarding.

December is usually busy with Christmas stuff, so there’s not much time for it then. But for about six weeks in the middle of winter, if you’re willing to drive up to the mountains of North Carolina or over into West Virginia, you can usually find snow.

And if you’re from North Carolina, you know this means everyone suddenly becomes a winter sports expert for about two weekends.

5. No Spiders

I do enjoy the gas logs being on in our house during winter. But that’s not the real reason I like the season.

The real reason?

Spiders.

They mostly stay away until March. And I’m very thankful for that.

Because once spring arrives, those little guys start showing up like they’ve been paying rent the whole time.

So which do you like better — Winter or Spring?
Tell me why in the comments. I’ll approve it and post it… unless you say spiders are your favorite part of spring.
