So, here we are at the Christmas season. Each night my neighborhood gets more festive than the night before as people put their decorative lights up in preparation for Christmas.
We (as well as many of you) are shopping for gifts. Our goal is to be done with shopping by December 13th so we can put that task behind us and focus more on the other aspects of this holiday season.
I think sometimes people get so busy trying to pull off Christmas that the enjoyment of the season is missed, or covered up with the stress of all that there is to do to prepare for it. If this is you, set a time where you are going to be finished with all the hustle and bustle and intentionally slow down so you don’t miss the moment of joy and happiness this season is designed to bring to each one of us.
For some this Christmas season is a moment of extended grief. The loved one who was part of the celebration last year will not be with you this year because they have passed on. This is tough and I have no words that would make that particular reality easier to deal with. But what I can say if it’s ok… is that Jesus who is the reason for the season has provided a way to see your loved one again. For most this fact provides the strength to miss the one you cared for with the hope of seeing them again.
Andrew Peterson has a Christmas album call Behold the Lamb. If you are wondering about what I meant by the reason for the season that album tells the whole story. You can get it by clicking on the title of the album in this paragraph.
The other Christmas Album that I think is great especially if you want to go Epic with your Christmas music is Tommee Profit’s Birth of a King album. There are two versions of this album the original and the live version. The link above will send you to the original if you want to check it out.
So that’s it for now…
